Runway Inspired Challenge #81

Hello,

I am back after a looong absence! Recently I have been very occupied with Altenew, and I hardly had a chance to craft.

However, today I finally made some time and designed a card for the latest Runway Inspired Challenge.

source: style.com

Oh the bold colors! I wasn’t sure what to make at first, and in fact, my first card came out really bad!

On my second attempt I made this card:

DSC_1247

I started by stamping the smaller trio of leaves from the Altenew Peony Scrolls set. My original goal was to create a cluster in the center, and I had my card base in portrait position. However, my deign shifted down and to the right. Instead of starting again, I simply continued stamping off the edges, and added a single leaf cluster on top left (in portrait position). I colored the leaves with Copic markers. When it came time to place the greeting, no position seemed to look good. After much deliberation, I turned the design landscape, and I think it worked.

Sometimes you start with a certain design in mind, and end up with a completely different one!

Oh and I almost forgot! The sentiment that I used here is from Bossy Jocie. I love the cute and whimsical feel of it. Bossy Jocie also happens to be the sponsor of this challenge. One lucky winner will receive a $20 gift card to Bossy Joscie!

Runway Inspired Challenge #79

Hello!

Last week I made a card for the latest Runway challenge, and completely forgot to write about it!

We were asked to choose a photo from this year’s Academy Awards, and this is the outfit that I picked for inspiration:

And here is my inspired card:

DSC_108-0010

I used stamps from Altenew Vintage Flowers and Label Love sets. The images were stamped on white card stock and then die cut with coordinating dies (to be released next week!) I used a Walnut Cream card stock from Bazzill for my card base.

Hello!

I am back with a new Runway Inspired Challenge:

Aren’t the pattern and the colors simply beautiful?

My take:

DSC_0948

The flowers are from Altenew’s Peony Scrolls set. The yellow ones were colored with a Copic marker, and the Gray one was stamped and water colored with Distress ink Iced Spruce. The background is a patterned paper from Studio Calico.

Runway Inspired Challenge 76

Hello,

It has been over a month since I last posted! I don’t think my blog has ever been neglected for this long before! 🙁 To make up for this negligence, I will do a giveaway in three days, which will also mark the third year anniversary for this blog 🙂

My card today is inspired by the latest Runway Inspired Challenge. Thanks to this challenge I am still making cards for fun! 😉

My card:

RIC 76

I love the soft yellow flooring, so I started with a rectangular piece of yellow card stock. The model’s black jacket and red buckle stood out to me, so I decided to make my focal images in those colors. The floral stamps are from Altenew’s Lacy Scrolls set, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black, die cut (yes, dies! coming out in February) and mounted on foam tape. The ‘Hello’ is from the Label Love set.

Runway Inspired Challenge #74

Hello!

There is a beautiful inspiration at Runway Inspired Challenge this week.

I loved the layers of dark and light colors, and thought Painted Flowers would work perfectly for this look.

RIC 74

I stamped the flowers in Close to My Heart’s Honey and Goldrush inks. Originally I had planned to emboss the outlines in white, but it so happens that I don’t have any white embossing powder at the moment, so I used gold. You will notice some inky smudges in the background, that wasn’t done to cover a mistake. When I realized that I didn’t have any white embossing powder, I started stamping in white pigment ink. The outlines showed over the flower, but not beyond it. I thought if I sponged some ink, maybe somehow, the pigment ink will show through! (I wasn’t thinking clearly). Spare time is so hard to come these days, that I wasn’t willing to start over, so I embossed the outlines in gold.

This week’s sponsor is Ellen Hutson, and the winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to her store.

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Special Thanks

papercraftshop1

The first time I heard of the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine  was just about two years ago when Jen announced that Susan R. Opel was to be a guest designer at Runway Inspired Challenge. I said Yay! although, to be honest, I didn’t know who she was at the time! Everyone on the team seemed excited about it, so I thought it was best not to reveal my little secret . Since then, I have gotten to know more about her and the magazine she worked for. I could tell right away that this magazine was not just a magazine, but a vital force of an amazing community of artists. I admired the high standard it held, and it inspired me to think out of the box and give my best at creativity.

Thank you Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine for all the years of hard work and inspiration you provided to this community! I wish each and everyone behind this magazine all the best.

Guest Designer at Virginia’s View Challenge

Hello!

Today I am very honored to be a guest designer at Virginia’s View challenge. If you have been out and about blog-land around 2011-2012, you may have heard of this challenge at a blog that used to be called Lily Pad Cards. I participated in some of their challenges (including Virginia’s) until they closed down in May 2012. Earlier this year, Virginia started a challenge of her own, and I was happy to see that she gave it the same name!

November’s challenge is All Thing Metallic! Perfect! for I love adding a little gold to my cards 🙂

Here are the two cards that I made:

I hope you will stop by Virginia’s View Cgallenge, and check out the beautiful inspirations in that blog!

Runway Inspired Challenge #71

ric#71

Today we have something special at Runway Inspired Challenge. In honor of the famed and beloved fashion icon Oscar de la Renta, who passed away recently, the design team chose a favorite piece from his most recent collection to use as inspiration.

LUX_3593

I took inspiration from the fabric pattern and the flowers in the background.

Tasnim-RIc71

I used a cream color card base and stamped some botanical images in random places. Next I adhered a strip of black card stock and stamped ‘Thank You using cream pigment ink. The rose was stamped and trimmed before it was adhered over the black strip.

This round’s sponsor is Simon Says Stamp, and the winner will receive a $15 store credit to SimonSaysStamp.com.

Make sure to stop by the Runway Inspired challenge to see what looks the design team chose for inspiration! You may choose any of these looks to make your project!

Runway Inspired Challenge #70

Hello!

A new inspiration at Runway Inspired Challenge is up! Check it out:

I was inspired by the colors in the photo, and here is what I made:

Runway 70-Tasnim

I used a stencil by TCW, and applied white embossing paste onto a piece of white card stock. Before I placed the stencil, I masked the borders leaving a rectangular window in the center. The dove and the hearts were stamped in red and trimmed with precision scissors. The leaves were stamped in black and trimmed leaving a white edge. The sentiment was made using a label maker.

Diwali Blog Hop 2014

Print

Hello!

Today I am joining Chaitali and her friends for a blog hop celebrating Diwali, the festival of light. I personally do not celebrate Diwali, but I wanted to join in the fun and learn more about this festivity.

I made two cards for this occasion. The first one is super simple and very easy to make:

Celebrate-super script

I embossed the word Celebrate from Altenew’s Super Script set directly on the black card base. I used Ranger’s “Roman Gold” embossing powder, which is a combination of glitter and gold embossing powder. To add the star sequins, I placed dots of glue in random places, and placed the stars on them using a QuickStik. I think the tiny stars look like little speckles of light!

In my next card there is a little sneak peek of an upcoming stamp set by Altenew! The leafy branches were sitting on my work top and I couldn’t resist using them!

Celebrate-cribbled flowers

The flowers are from Altenew’s Scribbled Flowers set, and the greeting is from the Label Love set. Since Diwali is a celebration of light, I thought the card needed some gold/sparkly element. I added a shiny strip of gold tape, and a few drops of gold glitter to complement the tape.

Notice that both my cards have the “celebrate” theme. With their sparkly elements, I think they will be nice cards to give to someone on Diwali, but they can also be used for other happy occasions.

That is it from me! Join in and participate in the hop to learn more about the festival and see some beautiful ethnic creations! Your next and final stop is Neon Diary by Shipla.
