This is my second post of the day. For the Runway Baby Shower challenge post please click here or scroll down.
CASE Study is having a DT search challenge and I decided to give it a go. The challenge is to take inspiration from someone else’s work and create something that conforms to your own style (what makes you happy), hence CASE-ing it instead of Copying it.
I decided to CASE three designers with different styles, and chose cards that has materials/technique/style which I am not too comfortable with, hence the challenge 🙂
Here we go then, in the order I made them:
First off, Sanketi’s beautiful mixed-media card:

I love Sanketi’s water color cards. She is a pro when it comes to water-coloring. For me, however, water color equals disaster, so I stayed away from it, and created this clean and simple card:
In my CASED version, I tried to color the flower (Clearly Besotted Blooming Marvellous) in a similar way by first stamping and then adding highlights with Inktense pencils. I also masked off the flower when stamping the leaves.
Second is Iwona’s uber-awesome scrappy card:

This card is simply Wow! I love every corner and inch of it! And it is something I could never design…at least not now. I took few elements from this gorgeous card, and here is my cased card:
The Hexagon pattern is a digital print from Mel’s collection. The leaves are from Clearly Besotted Leafy Accents, and the flower is a digital print from this collection. I would have colored the flower with Copics had I been at home. But since Inktense pencils are the only coloring media with me, I used the direct wet-brush to pencil method to color it.
And finally, my third inspiration card, from non-other than my blog friend and RIC team-mate Wida:

I love Wida’s style and her fearless use of pattern paper. And like she said, I love all the layered goodness in this card.
I must say, this was a bit tough to CASE. Her style is clean and simple, yet very different from mine. One thing I knew, I had to get in some splatter in my card! I have been wanting to do that for a long time now! So after some shifting around, here is the card I came up with:
I don’t use pattern paper, but I do love washi tape! These two washi tapes came in a set (Recollection, from Michaels) and I love them! The stamps are from Clearly Besotted Spring Blooms. I used an Inktense pencil and a wet brush to create the splatter.
That’s it! I tried to keep this post concise given all the cards, hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for stopping by!
