Hello!
It is time for another Runway Inspired Challenge, and I am quite excited about this one! Why? Because first, we have the amazing, the one and only, Kristina Werner as out Guest Designer!!!
Second, we have an awesome inspiration photo. I think this maybe my favorite Runway outfits so far!
You are wondering what am I so hyped up about? If you enlarge the picture and look at the skirt, you will know why 🙂
When I first saw the inspiration, I was thinking in the lines of some hearts and some dangling ornaments (I would have probably made some of my own with strings and rhinestones…)
Later I decided not to do a literal interpretation and use something other than hearts. I was still going to use some stones. Then it so happened that my sister-in-law gave me a box full of broken/unpaired fashion jewelry. It was exactly what I needed to complete my idea.
I made two cards using the same stamp set and some broken treasures 🙂 Here is the first one:
The idea is quite simple, I stamped two ornaments from the Stampin’Up! set Madison Avenue, adhered large rhinestones at the center and then adhered the earrings with glossy accent. The long piece with three stones is not an earring though, it was a piece from a box of trinkets that my sister-in-law had given me on another occasion.
The letters were die cut using Cuttlebug dies. I would have adhered them with foam tape, but since they are so thin I decided to use clear card stock. I adhered the clear sheet (same size as the card base) behind the white panel, then glued down the letters on it. Finally I used foam tape to mount the whole panel. This way I got the letter to be raised without much mess.
The Greeting says Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the lunar calender. It started on July 10th. It is the month of fasting, and in it are many blessings. The greeting continues on inside:
I used Photoshop to print out the greeting.
Before I go to the next card, I must show you a close up of one of the ornaments!
My second card is also a Ramadan card, and with a similar design concept:
For this one, I printed out the Greeting first; which says Ramadan Kareem. Kareem is Arabic for generous. I liked the font but I am not sure I like the “r” or the “m” and “n”. I mean, can you tell them for what they are?!
Next I drew a guideline with pencil to help me stamp the design in the center. The ornaments on this one are threaded instead of being glued. I used white thread for the golden beads and silver thread for the red stoned piece.
Thanks to this inspiration now I have a different outlook to broken/lost fashion jewelry!
Our sponsor for this challenge is Ellen Hutson, and the winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to her online store!!
Looking forward to see how YOU interpret this week’s Runway Inspired Challenge!
